Add snow chains to your reservation
Not all our vehicles are equipped with snow chains as standard. If you would like to bring snow chains, please add them during your reservation under "extras." We'll make sure you have a suitable set in your trunk, ready to use.
Please note: snow chains and winter tires are not included as standard during the winter sports season.
Snow chains on your winter sports holiday
Are you planning to travel abroad in one of our rental cars this winter? Then check whether winter tires and/or snow chains are required in your destination country. You can find more information about this on the ANWB website (in Dutch).
We always check the tread depth of your tires before leaving for the winter sports area. This way, we can be sure that the tires you're driving to the winter sports area meet the minimum tread depth of 4 mm.
Why snow chains are essential
If you drive up a snowy slope without snow chains, you probably won't get far. But there are rules:

Renting snow chains: options and costs
We have various snow chains with manual tensioning and some with self-tensioning mechanisms. The snow chain you need depends on your tire size and vehicle type.
The cost of snow chains is €10 per rental day, with a maximum of €100 per rental.
It is crucial that the snow chain fits the tire perfectly. If the chain is too big or too small, it can damage the tire and the vehicle. We have the right snow chains for most of our passenger cars and vans. No matter which car or van you rent, we have the right snow chains.
Are snow chains mandatory?
Renting a car with snow chains is convenient, but often essential in places with thick snow. Need to climb a slope or mountain in the snow? Without snow chains, you'll quickly find yourself in trouble. But that's not all; in some countries, you can even get a fine if you don't have snow chains on your rental car's tires.
