Storage Rental Terms

These rental terms establish the rights and obligations of both DIKS Storage Rental and the lessee. This gives clarity and certainty. By making good agreements you know exactly where you stand.

The terms and conditions are printed on the back of all rental contracts. The conditions below apply to all rentals where the lessee is a natural person who enters into a rental agreement for purposes that are outside his business or professional activity.

  1. The unit (storage box) is accessible to the lessee from 6:00 am to 11:00 pm, 7 days a week. Outside these hours it is not allowed to be in the building. The alarm is then activated. The costs of an alarm caused by tenant will be charged to tenant.

  2. It is not permitted to enter the building without keying in the access code. Tenant must ensure that others do not “hitch a ride” inside with tenant.

  3. The access code is strictly personal and may not be used by third parties. In case tenant has forgotten the code, he should report to the reception desk.

  4. The escape doors may only be used in case of emergency. Misuse of the escape doors is subject to security costs of at least €250, which will be charged to the renter.

  6. When entering into your rental agreement with DIKS Storage Rental, a moving van of up to 11 m³ can be used once for 4 hours for free, including 50 free kilometers. The free hours do not apply in combination with other discount offers. Use is based on availability. For more information visit https://diks.net/en.

  7. On the grounds around the building, everyone is required to drive at walking pace. No running motors are allowed in the building. In connection with fire safety, parked cars and motorcycles must be parked with the engine cooled down, in the free position of the gearbox and without a handbrake.

  8. Tenant is required to lock the storage unit with a lock. The required lock is available from the respective DIKS branch.

  9. Tenant is obliged to adequately insure the goods in the storage unit, as further described in the General Terms and Conditions.

  10. Animals are not allowed in the building or on the grounds around the building.

  11. No work is allowed in the building or on the grounds around the building that may cause a nuisance to other tenants. In case of a nuisance, the tenant will receive a warning from the branch manager. In case of a second warning, DIKS Storage Rental has the right to terminate the rental agreement.

  12. Tenant is responsible for keeping his/her storage unit clean. Upon termination of the rental agreement, an inspection will take place. Upon approval of the inspection the direct debit will be stopped. The tenant is required to lock up the rented unit as described in the Terms and Conditions. If the tenant does not leave the unit properly or clean it, DIKS Storage Rental will charge the costs to the tenant.

  13. Tenant is responsible for the removal and disposal of goods, dirt and waste. Items left behind may be removed by DIKS Storage Rental at the tenant's expense.

  14. Tenant must be familiar with the operation of the elevator. If not, tenant or authorized person must request instruction from one of DIKS Storage Rental's employees.

  15. Tenant is required to use tools, such as trolleys, made available on site for transportation of goods. Misuse and removal of the tools from the building is subject to a fine of €250.

  16. As a preventive measure, DIKS Storage Rental may use sniffer dogs to search for prohibited products. If these products are found, the police will be informed.

  17. In case of danger the renter must call the emergency room at 112.

  18. To clarify, we provide below a non-exhaustive list of products that may not be stored in accordance with the rental contract:

    PAINT, CHARGING BATTERIES, MORE THAN 3 SETS OF CAR TIRES, CEMENT, WEAPONS/MUNITIONS, FOOD, PERISHABLE GOODS, ANIMALS, PLANTS, HIGHLY FLAMMABLE SUBSTANCES, TOXIC MATERIALS, INFECTIOUS MATERIALS, RADIOACTIVE MATERIALS, FIREWORKS, EXPLOSIVES, DRUGS, CHEMICAL PRODUCTS, GOODS THAT ARE ILLEGAL, GOODS THAT VIOLATE THE LAW.
